The DSM IV-R is an essential tool for all Mental Health practitioners. As Mental Health Counselors strive to enhance professional excellence and recognition, and seek to work effectively in various Mental Health Care settings, the need to be well versed in this comprehensive system becomes essential to clinical skills development. This workshop is designed to:
  1. Enable counselors to be more knowledgeable about DSM IV when taking the Mental Health Counselor License exam
  2. Enable counselors to be more proficient in diagnosing clients and subsequent treatment planning
  3. Enable counselors to be more knowledgeable when communicating with other mental health professionals
Dr. Bullard covers the following topics:
  • Understanding the Multi-Axial System
  • DSM IV-R Diagnostic Categories
  • Behaviors that can be expected in each Category
  • Differential Diagnosis
  • Treatment Planning
  • Changes from DSM IV
Short vignettes will be presented for practice diagnosis and planning.
