About PTI

The Psychotherapists Training Institute (PTI) is a professional development consulting group founded by LMHCs that has developed professional training and products to enhance clinical expertise, promote creativity, and develop professional success for the mental health professional.

PTI provides workshops, including Licensure Examination Preparation, Study Guides, Professional Training, Individual and Group Consultation, Supervision, Professional Practice Development.

PTI grew from the need of mental health counselors, who wanted a resource to help them pass the NCMHCE licensing exam, and found that none existed. We began with our book, The Clinical Mental Health Counselor Handbook And Study Guide, and our workshop, the Licensure Examination Preparation Course, in 1994, and have taken both through several revisions to stay abreast of changes in the NCMHCE.

The authors, Bonnie M. Bullard, Linda L. Lawless ,and Midge Williams, are Licensed Mental Health Counselors, each with over 30 years experience, all with extensive private and agency practice, teaching and supervisory resumes. All have held leadership positions and been active on the Executive Board of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association. Midge Williams is also a Past President of AMHCA (the American Mental Health Counselors Association) and both Linda Lawless and Midge continue as staff with MaMHCA and consult for AMHCA.

We all believed that a course and textbook - with helpful study tools - could be designed that would cover the appropriate material and make that material available in a focused and concentrated way. As the textbook developed into a complex volume, we needed a production coordinator and Deborah Bergstrom, with her many years of mental health administrative support experience, joined the partnership.

We have taken serious responsibility in continuously revising and preparing these study materials. It has been a long journey for us in bringing the new 2007, Clinical Mental Health Counselor Handbook and Study Guide, 2nd Edition to you. Now, we have added ExamAce; on-line latent-image clinical simulations that accurately reproduce the NCMHCE Ôlook and feelÓ

We hope you find both the book and our on-line simulations valuable assets in your journey preparing for your licensure or certification examination.
